AAABG Meeting, Oct-2013
Major Applied Genetics Conference, Napier, 20-23 October, 2013
The 20th meeting of the Association for the Advancement of Animal Breeding and Genetics (AAABG) will be held in Napier, 20-23 October 2013. Over the 30+ years since the first AAABG meeting, there have been major advances in the accompanying sciences and technologies that support animal breeding and genetics, huge increases in computing power, new statistical techniques, greater understanding of underlying biology, cloning, SIL, Breedplan, Lambplan and so on. The AAABG meetings have been an important means of bringing these advances to the attention of the wider animal breeding and genetics community. Importantly, the on-farm application of animal breeding and genetics tools has received significant attention at AAABG meetings meaning that practitioners have been regular attendees of the AAABG meetings.
A feature of the AAABG meeting will be a Sheep Breeders Day on Thursday 24-Oct at the Hawkes Bay A&P Show where visiting experts will present their ideas relating to sheep breeding. For more on this day, click here.
